About the role

Senior Electronics Engineer
Tauranga | Autonomous Technology | Advanced Electronics

The Company

  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Intelligent electronics
  • Advanced mechatronics
  • Real engineering challenges.
This globally backed technology business is developing the next generation of autonomous agricultural machinery, combining sophisticated electronics, embedded technologies, sensors and intelligent control systems.

Based in Tauriko, Tauranga, the organisation is moving from innovative product development into scalable commercial production. It's an exciting stage of growth, with genuine opportunities for experienced engineers to influence how these products are designed, developed and manufactured.

The Role & Requirements
  • Design it.
  • Build it.
  • Troubleshoot it.
  • Make it better.
This is a hands-on Senior Electronics Engineer position within a small, highly capable Electronics Team. It's not a management role. It's an opportunity to take ownership of complex electronic designs while helping strengthen the technical capability of the wider team.

The work is varied. One day could involve developing new circuitry, the next diagnosing PCB failures, refining existing designs or tackling challenging power electronics problems.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Electronic circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout, from concept through to production.
  • Developing and improving PCBAs, electronic interfaces, power distribution and motor control systems.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, resolving design issues and improving reliability and manufacturability.
  • Prototyping, testing, DFM/DFT, component selection and production readiness.
  • Collaborating with firmware, mechanical and manufacturing engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Providing technical guidance, reviewing designs and mentoring other engineers.
The expectation is clear. Take ownership, make sound engineering decisions and deliver practical solutions that work in the real world.

What We Are Looking For
  • Technical depth matters.
  • Breadth matters just as much.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Electronics Engineer who can move confidently between analogue and digital circuitry, PCB design, power electronics and embedded hardware.

You'll bring:
  • An Electronics Engineering degree and ideally 7+ years of commercial electronics design experience.
  • Strong schematic design and PCB layout capability, preferably using Altium Designer.
  • Proven experience taking electronic products through design, prototyping, testing and manufacturing.
  • Practical understanding of electronic system integration, DFM, DFT and test equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the confidence to own complex engineering problems.
Experience with three-phase motor controllers, inverters, MOSFETs, IGBTs, high-voltage electronics, EMC/RF or embedded firmware would be a real advantage.

And here's what matters beyond the technical skills.

This team doesn't need someone who claims to know everything. They're looking for someone who knows their craft, asks good questions, shares ideas and welcomes a technical challenge.
Someone who can work independently without working in isolation. Someone who values peer review, accepts constructive feedback and helps other engineers grow.
That's what seniority looks like in this team.

What's On Offer
  • Work on sophisticated autonomous agricultural vehicles with global applications.
  • Join a collaborative Electronics Team where individual contributions genuinely matter.
  • Own meaningful electronic design challenges from concept through to commercialisation.
  • Enjoy the backing and resources of a global engineering organisation.
  • Build a career in Tauranga while working with advanced technology.
